NCSC CyberFirst Girls Competition Familiarisation Days 2024
October 8, 2024 – November 5, 2024
The KMCC, in collaboration with iCSS and local schools, hosted two successful NCSC CyberFirst Girls Competition Familiarisation Days in Maidstone and Folkestone. These half-day events aimed to encourage local girls aged 12–13 to participate in the 2024 CyberFirst Girls Competition and inspire them to consider careers in cyber security and computer science.
Maidstone Grammar School for Girls Event
• Date: 8th October 2024
• Venue: Maidstone Grammar School for Girls (MGGS)
• Participants: 56 girls from 7 schools
Folkestone School for Girls Event
• Date: 5th November 2024
• Venue: Folkestone School for Girls
• Participants: 42 girls from 2 schools
Activities:
- Career talks from female cyber security professionals and university students.
- Hands-on challenges replicating real competition tasks.
Impact: The events showcased diverse pathways into cyber security careers and demystified the field for young girls, building confidence and enthusiasm for the upcoming competition.
