Here is a detailed news story about the event.\nIntroduction\nKMCC saw its official launch at the Templeman Library on the Canterbury campus of the University of Kent\, on Valentine’s Day\, February 14 2024! Many participants joined us for a fascinating look at the world of cyber security and learn how to fall in love with it.\n\nThe event included a complimentary buffet lunch and networking opportunities with other participants including industry experts\, University students studying or interested in cyber security\, employers and recruiters looking for cyber security talent and researchers and educators with specialist expertise in cyber security and online safety. Participants listened to invited panellists and speakers on how to stay safe online and how to develop your skills to become a future cyber security expert.\n\nParticipation was FREE.\nAgenda\n1-2pm Buffet Lunch and Networking\nArrive for 1pm and enjoy networking with others over a complimentary buffet lunch.\n\n2-2:10pm  Introduction: Welcome from KMCC \nSpeaker: Clare Patterson\, Director and CFO\, KMCC | Member of Advisory Board\, CyberCompare | PhD Researcher\, University of Kent\nClare will outline the aims and purpose of KMCC and how it fits in with the nationwide initiative on cyber security under the umbrella of UKC3.\n\n\n2:10-2:30pm Romance Scams and Beyond: How They Happen and What We Can Do with Them \nSpeaker: Jason Steer\, Director and CEO\, KMCC | CISO\, Recorded Future\nA 20-year cybersecurity veteran\, Jason Steer is the CISO at Recorded Future\, where he maintains global responsibility for ensuring the protection of all customer-facing services\, internal operational systems\, and related information assets. In this talk\, he will discuss romance scams and other forms of cyber fraud and cybercrime\, how they happen and what we can do to understand and prevent them.\n\n2:30-2:50pm Cyber Fraud in the South East – a perspective from policing \nSpeaker: Christopher Buckingham\, City of London Police\nFacilitator: Jason Steer\, Director and CEO\, KMCC | CISO\, Recorded Future\nAction Fraud is the national reporting centre for fraud and cybercrime. Chris will engage on the realities and challenges of cyber fraud and crime from the policing perspective\, citing real-world examples from extensive experience. There will be opportunity for questions and comment from the audience.\n\n2:50-3pm Coffee/Tea Break\n\n3-3:35pm Fireside Dialogue on “Careers in Cyber Security: What Skills are Needed?”\nPanellists:\nMolly Davis\, Team Lead Intelligence Services (EMEA)\, Recorded Future\nLucy Maclaren\, Analyst – Security Training and Awareness\, London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG)\nAnka Moraru\, Director – Cyber Security\, PwC UK\nFacilitator: Clare Patterson\, Director and CFO\, KMCC | Member of Advisory Board\, CyberCompare | PhD Researcher\, University of Kent\nOur experienced panel will engage in a fireside dialogue on the range of opportunities and the skills needed for a career in cyber security.
